Other Maritime curiosities they carry include 'Pal-O-Mine'--described as a chocolately, peanuty chew, 'Caramel Logs' (wafers with caramel?) and other dubious confections I have yet to try.

As someone from outside of Newfoundland, this is a curious place. The doors are papered over with adverts for everything from local concerts to 'ATVs for Sale', as is usual in a small town. Inside, it's stocked as well as a small grocery store, complete with frozen food section, milk, bread, and two or three aisles of other staples--if chips can be considered a staple. What distinguishes this from the variety stores of my hometown in Southwestern Ontario though, is the hardware section. An aisle dedicated to paintbrushes, pliers, boxcutters, cable ties--and a rack of fishing equipment behind the counter!

This store also assuaged the loss of 7-Eleven, and the other corner stores I'd relied on back home for nickel candy. They carry bags of candy for $1. It isn't mixed--you have to pick between sour watermelons or marshmellow strawberries--but in a town without a Bulk Barn, it's not bad.

Maybe I need to credit this to Maritime practicality?
